The Art of Looking At Ourselves, CAerdroia
The Art of Looking at Ourselves
Join Us for a Transformative Experience!
Two decades ago, Theatr Cynefin collaborated with Golygfa Gwydyr to bring the enchanting Caerdroia Sensory Labyrinth Theatre (SLT) to life.
Art has the power to change consciousness, and through a new mindfulness curriculum, Coming to Our Senses, we can explore the use of natural spaces to enhance wellbeing, creating a profound connection between art, nature, and self-awareness. This three-day event will introduce the Coming to Our Senses mindfulness programme through unique insights from seasoned experts in SLT, and by discovering how natural spaces can be transformative for wellbeing and mindfulness.
This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of evolving creativity and mindfulness through connecting with nature. Secure your place and embark on a journey of self-discovery, artistic exploration, and nature-inspired wellbeing!
The course is aimed at adults who are engaged with mindfulness and/or arts wellbeing activities. Watch this space for further details.

Glade of Dreams
You are invited to participate in ‘The Glade of Dreams’, a Sensory Labyrinth Theatre experience and training at Cae Mabon in August, 2022. We’ll be working with the director Iwan Brioc (https://www.iwanbrioc.com) to create a magical promenade-type journey around the exquisite riverside and forest glade setting of Cae Mabon, the renowned, hobbit-like village in western Snowdonia.
On the journey Travellers (the audience) will move through a series of portals in which they have intimate encounters, including with beings from local myth and legend such as Mabon and Olwen, Ceridwen and Merlin. These dreamy demigods and goddesses will be channelled using stunning and powerful masks.
Performer-participants will work together with Iwan to prepare portals and create scenarios from Wednesday 3rd to Wednesday 10th August. Then from Thursday 11th to Saturday 13th there will be three days of performance – two shows a day – where the audience (Travellers) are guided one by one through enchanted sensory portals into a timeless mythic realm.
The cost to participant-performers for this training and immersive experience is £200 per person. This covers food for eleven days and a fee to Iwan Brioc. Accommodation at Cae Mabon is offered free.
If you are interested please email Lawrence at lbtoye@gmail.com
If you really want to do this but cannot afford it let us know and we’ll try to work something out.
But bear in mind that you’d probably pay more than this for a three-day festival. This will be an intense, convivial, focused and deeply fulfilling experience. No doubt about it!
What if...all there is...is this?
